Rishikesh :- Rishikesh’ the capital of yoga. When the eastward caravan of the Aryans first encamped on the banks of Ganga, since then Rishikesh, the Devbhoomi was closely related with the legends and mythology, especially with the legendary heroes of Mahabharata and Ramayana.

Legends aside, this is the perfect getaway from the humdrum of daily grind. The Himalayas with gushing rivers, majestic snow clad peaks, enchanting lakes and a rich plethora of flora and fauna. The blissful air of divinity and postcard picture beauty that envelops the Himalayas lends it a touch of paradise. With its mountains and valleys, forests and meadows, butterflies and flowers, Garhwal provides a high degree of sensual delight.

Apart from being the Mecca of Yoga and meditation, this is also a destination for the ardent trekker, mountaineer, water sports lover, skier, wild life enthusiast and of course, the pilgrim.

Dehradun :- As the capital of the new state Uttarakhand (earlier known as Uttaranchal) Dehradun is bustling, energetic and line city, with a fair share of young energy poured into it. The famous clock-Tower (Ghanta Ghar) is the center of activities, and a popular landmark of the city from where one can venture in famous pattern. A tall structure with 6 clocks many efforts in the last years to revive the clocks have been unsuccessful. The numerous high schools of the city attract the brightest of the best students from all over the country. During the day it is common to see students (dressed in various high-school uniforms) to be moving around the city. It’s a major hub of culture activities round the year. The city has witnessed tremendous growth in the last few years with clothing up of new hotels, classy residential blocks, shopping centers and culture institutions after the formation of Uttarakhand State. It is always a favourite destination for the retired army personnel. For the younger people, the popular downtown destinations include Astley hall, Rajpur Road, Capri Trade Centre and Connaught Place etc.

Mussoorie :- The cool and invigorating climate makes it an ideal summer holiday resort. Thronged by million of tourist, it vibrates with gaiety and merry making during the summer season. There are no step inclines and the more adventurous can also undertake enjoyable excursions to various beauty spots in the vicinity of this tourist place. It affords glorious and panoramic views of the mighty Himalayan peak. Just 15 km from the town, Kempty falls attract hundreds of people every day. The Bhatta falls are also famous for lustrous scenic beauty. Yet another place of interest in the town is Depot Hill, popularly known as ‘Lal Tibba’. It is the highest point in Mussoorie and beautiful Himalayan panorama is visible on all clear days from this spot. The Badrinath, Kedarnath, Bandar-Poonch, Shri Kantha and Nanda Devi peaks can also be seen from here.

Walks Around Mussoorie

Nainital :- Nainital has an advantage of being situated in close proximity of several other lesser known hill stations that are connected through all season motorable roads. Vantage points around Nainital offer a panoramic view of Himalaya’s peaks on one side and the plains rolling down on the other. Narrow wooded lanes through forests of oak, pine and deodar are excellent for short refreshing walks. The older parts of Nainital also retain colonial vestiges, including sprawling bungalows, public schools, church and the British cemetery. On reaching the head of the town where the highway from the plains meets the main mall at Tallital, you get a dramatic view of the beautiful Naini Lake nestling in its cocoon of hills. Brighlt coloured sails of yachts dot the calm waters of the lake while crowds of holiday makers throng the mall at its edge. Boating in the lake is just one of the favourite activities of the tourists who come to Nainital. Others come here for trekking in the still forested mountains that surround the town.

Places to beyond the Nainital

Weather Information :- The winter starts Nainital in late October which extents upto late March, of which December & January are extreme cold during which snow fall, may also occur. April to mid June & the month of October is the most pleasant time at Nainital. It rains very heavily from late June to September.

Chopta :- It is located at a height of 2900 mt. above sea level, amidst captivating surroundings. It is the most picturesque place in the entire Garhwal region. It provides a breath taking view of the magnificent Himalayan ranges like Chaukhamba, kedarnath etc. and surrounding areas. The trek to the famous Tungnath Temple starts from here.

Attractions For Tourist

Kausani :- Window to the snow-clad Trishul, Nanda Devi, Nandakot and Panchuchulli, there are very few places in the Himalayas that can be compared to the beauty of Kausani- a picturesque hill station famous for its scenic splendor and its spectacular 300 Kms-wide panoramic view of the Himalayas.

With a total area of 5.2 sq. Kms, situated at height of 1890 mtrs above sea level, 51 Kms morth of Almora, Kausani is the birthplace of famous Hindi poet Sumitra Nandan Pant, who wrote some of his memorable poems in praise of this paradise on earth. In 1929, Mahatma Gandhi stayed here for 14 days at the Anasakti Ashram while scripting his book titled ‘Anasakti Yoga’ and was greatly impressed by its environs.

Weather Information :- The town is accessible all year round. For those who wish to avoid the cold, the best season is between April to June and again between September to November. Summer months will require light woolen clothing and winter-heavy woolen clothes.

Ranikhet :- Situated at 1829 m, Ranikhet gives an excellent view of the snow capped Himalayas including Nanda Devi. It is an important army town and the headquarters of the Kumaon regiement.
